Weight Loss Shows
The Biggest Loser, USA
The Biggest Loser has been around since 2004. Each week, contestants compete for a cash prize by losing the highest percentage of their body weight. They are given fitness advice from trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper and eating advice from nutritionists and dieticians. The contestants are also given physical challenges that are grueling on the body and mind. Despite all the challenges they face, the one thing that The Biggest Loser isn't short on is inspiration. Everybody that works with the contestants are helpful and positive, including the host and especially fellow contestants. One person is eliminated each week from the bottom of the group who have lost the least percentage amount of their body weight.

Criticisms and Positives of Weight Loss TV
Many people argue that a large chuck of weight loss in a short amount of time is actually harmful to the metabolism. After the show is done, the advice and nutritional guidance stop. If a contestant isn't motivated enough to continue a program, then they will probably gain the weight back.
Other people argue that weight loss reality TV inspires people to lose weight. Watching "normal" people who want to lose weight makes some viewers relate to them and want to do the same. The shows give relevant exercise help and advice, stress management, and how to cook healthy.
