VH1’s I Love New York
From LoveToKnow Reality-TV
VH1's I Love New York is a spinoff from Flavor of Love featuring Tiffany Pollard as the bachelorette seeking a man to love. There have been two seasons of this show, and although the second season ended with Tiffany acquiring a fiancé, there is no telling if there will be a third season.
The Show
VH1's I Love New York is a dating show where a house full of eligible men compete for Tiffany's attention and affection. Tiffany is referred to as New York, which is a nickname she earned during her stint on Flavor Flav's dating show. Although she appeared on Flavor of Love for two seasons, she was turned down by Flavor Flav both times. This spurned the idea of Tiffany receiving her own reality show.
The men in the house are put through various tasks and are highly encouraged to woo her by any means possible. Some men bring her gifts while others sing songs for her, but perhaps the most stunning performance by one of the houseguests was the foot massage by one of the men that evolved into him sucking her toes with great exuberance.
Each week a man is eliminated by Tiffany, who is assisted by her aggressive and outspoken mother. Although Tiffany does not always follow her mother's advice, her mother has a large role in the show.
As the population of the house dwindles, Tiffany gets closer to the remaining men and eventually has to choose between the final two contestants. The prize for winning the show is the potential for a relationship with Tiffany.
Two Seasons of VH1's I Love New York
It would be a safe bet to say that there may be more seasons of this popular show. Even though Tiffany has said that she would rather be taken seriously as an actress, there is no telling when the constant lure of reality show stardom may prompt her to sign up for a third season.
Season One
In the first season of VH1's I Love New York, twenty men moved into a mansion and were put through many different challenges in an attempt to get the attention of Tiffany. The men who caught her eye were allowed to take her on dates and she eventually whittled her choices down to two men. She chose the man nicknamed Tango, who then turned around and proposed marriage. Tiffany accepted the proposal, but then in the reunion show the engagement was broken off.
Highlights of this season included:
- Making the men host a party for a large group of pre-teen girls.
- Swimming with dolphins despite Tiffany's huge aversion to the water.
- Having the men compete against a professional WNBA player.
The format of the show allowed for plenty of opportunities for the men to do their best to spoil Tiffany as well as for Tiffany to humiliate the men.
Season Two
After the broken engagement from Season One, Tiffany came back to try the process all over again with a house full of new suitors. This season was quite explosive with plenty of physical altercations between the men as well as Tiffany's growing ego pushing the men to exalt her.
In the final episode she chooses between two arch rivals who were very different both physically and with regards to their personalities. She chose "Tailor Made" and the two wound up engaged. In her subsequent VH1 reality show New York Moves to Hollywood it is revealed that the engagement ends after the long distance relationship fizzles.
Highlights of this season include:
- A psychic visits the house and suddenly everyone thinks the place is haunted.
- Tiffany takes one of the men along when she does a guest spot on a TV show.
- Even though one of the men is thrown off the show for violence he returns to the show.
Although Tiffany repeatedly affirms that she's going through the process of a second season in the hopes of finding love, it's difficult to tell if she's actually doing it more for the exposure. After this season ended, she starred in another show about her experiences with trying to become an actress in Los Angeles.
