Survivor Winners: Who Are They and Where Are They Now
You may have been wondering how all those Survivor champions have fared since winning a million dollars. Most seem to be living fairly normal lives, some have managed to eek out a few more moments in the celebrity spotlight and a few have run afoul of the law. Here's what they've been up to.
Survivor: Borneo
Richard Hatch is undoubtedly the most notorious Survivor winner. His appearances on Borneo and All-Stars helped viewers get to know this unforgettable character fairly well. Hatch played the conniving villain to the hilt on both editions, but found himself in jail for failing to claim his winnings and pay taxes on them.
Survivor: Outback
Tina Wesson wrote a book after her experience on Survivor called Out Live, Out Laugh, Out Love. It focuses on her life journey, and she hopes others will find inspiration from her story.
Survivor: Africa
Ethan Zohn endeared himself to millions as the winner of Survivor: Africa. Ethan is currently very involved with the struggle to raise aids awareness through his Grassroots Soccer charity. He also has a relationship with co-survivor Jenna Morasca.
Survivor: Marquesas
Vecepia "Vee" Towery was a bit of a surprise win this edition with her take-no-prisoners game plan. Since taking home the million dollar prize, she has married Leander Robinson with whom she has a child.
Survivor: Thailand
Brian Heidik played a nearly flawless game that led him to the winner's circle. Unfortunately, his post-survivor days have not been as successful. Heidik reportedly shot a puppy with a bow and arrow and was subsequently arrested. He claimed he was drunk at the time and mistook the puppy for a coyote.
Survivor: Amazon
Jenna Morasca has had a bit more success in the entertainment industry since her winning stint on the show. She was a contestant on the All-Stars edition, and has posed for Playboy, appeared on Fear Factor and hosted a number of events and shows, including Survivor Live. Survivor: Pearl Islands
Sandra Diaz-Twine had to decline a second shot at surviving on the All-Stars edition due to a pesky parasitic infestation she picked up on the Pearl Islands. However, life seems good for this winner. At last report, she is married with two children and works as a bank teller in North Carolina.
Survivor: All-Stars
Amber Brkich was invited to compete on the All-Stars edition after finishing sixth on Outback. She wisely hitched her wagon to co-star Rob Mariano who took her to the final two. Since the show, Rob and Amber have married and competed on Amazing Race All-Stars. The couple reportedly divides their time between Florida and Vegas.
Survivor: Vanuatu
Post-show, winner Chris Daugherty married his girlfriend Lori Groves in the victory lane at Daytona Speedway. He was also the subject of controversy when it was revealed that he lied about suffering from depression in order to take sick leave from his Ohio Department of Transportation job and compete on Survivor. With a million dollars in winnings, he could probably afford to be fired.
Survivor: Palau
Life has been interesting for Tom Westman since winning the show. Still married to wife Bernadette, he has reportedly retired from the fire department and is pursuing a career as a motivational speaker. He has also appeared as himself on The Bold and the Beautiful and acted as a co-host on Survivor Live. Of even greater interest, Westman was listed as one of television's sexiest men by TV Guide in 2005.
Survivor: Guatemala
Danni Boatwright now enjoys a career in sports broadcasting and is married to Casey Wiegmann of Denver Broncos fame. At last report, the couple has one child.
