Father Hood Overview

Snoop Dogg's Father Hood kicked off with its premiere on December 7, 2007. The first season contains ten episodes, which are each thirty minutes long. Its format is very similar to that of Gene Simmons Family Jewels in that various events are documented as well as ordinary things that happen in the family's daily life. Season two began on November 30, 2008.

What makes this reality show interesting is the glimpse into celebrity life and comparing things like parenting styles and family dynamics. It's sometimes fun to notice that celebrity families, even with their money and fame, are just ordinary people like everyone else.

Celebrity Guests

Since Snoop himself is a celebrity, it's no surprise that various famous faces have made appearances on Father Hood. These include:

  • Soccer player David Beckham
  • Former Boston Bruins winger Willie O'Ree
  • R&B singer songwriter Keyshia Cole
  • Actress Christine Price
  • Actor and producer Clinton H. Wallace
  • Actress Kathryn Budig

Theme Song

The self-titled theme song for Father Hood is written and performed by Snoop Dogg. It's a catchy tune; so catchy, in fact, that various artists from a variety of musical genres have recorded it, and these recordings were used in the promos for season two of the show. Artists featured in the promos include:

  • Country superstar Willie Nelson
  • R&B singer Estelle
  • Korn lead singer Jonathan Davis
  • Funk singer and guitarist Bootsy Collins, who is also Snoop's uncle

The Snoop Youth Football League

Since Snoop and his sons are big football fans and enjoy playing the sport together, the Snoop Youth Football League was created in 2004. The league pledges to make football fun and affordable for all kids. The league is featured occasionally in Father Hood, as Snoop coaches the Pomona Steelers team, which Cordell plays on.

All kids who play in the league must keep their academic scores in an acceptable range and play with sportsmanship in mind.
