Scream Queens
From LoveToKnow Reality-TV
Scream Queens is a competitive reality show where 10 unknown actresses vie for a spot on a horror movie. The first series ran from October 20, 2008 to December 8, 2008 and had the winner of the show receive a role in the movie Saw VI. The movie will go into production on January 5, 2009 and is slated to come out later in the year.
The Judges
The following three people are all judges for the girls, but each has a unique role to play during the show.
- James Gunn directs the girls in each of the acting challenges. He has done various filmes through Troma Entertainment and directed Slither. He has also acted and written other horror films, so he has B-movie experience.
- Shawnee Smith is a Saw veteran. She has been in all five Saw movies as well as other thrillers (The Island) and horror flicks (The Shining—the TV series). She is a mentor to the girls on the show and helps improve their skills.
- John Homa also gives the girls help when they need it, but he is more of a judge than mentor.
The Girls
- Jo-Anne Krupa is from the UK and has done a few films here and there. She was eliminated in the first episode.
- Kylah Kim was a corporate lawyer before she started acting in 2006. She has mostly played bit parts, but is slowly working up to that breakout role. She was eliminated in the second episode.
- Hailing from New York, Mariss Skell stars in The One Night, a comedy film. She was eliminated in the third episode.
- Lina So was born in China and has done some tv and movies, and she is a producer on her latest film, Thorns from a Rose. She was eliminated in the fourth episode.
- Most of Sarah Agor's work has been in 2008. She has done some TV and movies and has Miss Nobody coming out early in 2009. She was eliminated in the fifth episode.
- Jessica Palette has only been in one film (Under the Raven's Wing). She was eliminated in the sixth episode.
- Angela Anderson has also only been one film (Golden Elliot) and was eliminated on the seventh episode.
- Lindsay Felton is probably the most experienced of any of the girls. She has done comedy, TV, and even martial arts films. She started in 1995's Thunder Alley as Jenny Turner. She was eliminated in part one of episode eight.
- Michelle Galdenzi lasted for quite a while. She had the least experience of the girls with the TV show Humanzee coming out in 2009. She was eliminated in the second part of episode eight.
- Tanedra Howard won Scream Queens. She had no experience coming into the show, but won a breakout role on Saw VI.
Scream Queens Format
The show followed a very simple formula, popular on many competitive reality shows. Each episode started with a recap from the previous show, then a judge or the judges would announce the challenge for the episode. As the girls prepared and practiced for the challenge the two mentors would give advice and work alongside the girls. After this, James Gunn would direct the girls. The judges would then go through the positives and negatives of each girl and choose one to be eliminated.
- The final winner was crowned the Scream Queen.
- The second place girl was the Runner-up.
- During each episode someone could win immunity from being eliminated by winning the challenge.
- Each week, a girl could win Leading Lady by showing exemplary poise and improvement.
- If a girl was in danger of being eliminated she may not receive a "callback".
Just Fun
Scream Queens was a 6-week reality show romp watching girls trying to be the next horror queen. There wasn't a lot of drama and most of the girls actually got along, as opposed to other reality shows that thrived off "girl drama"
