Real World Brooklyn

Real World Brooklyn is the 21st installment of the successful MTV reality TV series Real World. The show follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, Real World Hollywood.

The 21st season of Real World returns to New York, which was the very first city location used for the show back in 1992. Real World is the longest running show on MTV, and is credited with starting the reality TV craze.

The basic theme of Real World Brooklyn is the same as it has always been. A group of 20-somethings who have never met move into a house and have to live together, learning about different cultures and viewpoints in order to get along. There are a few differences with this season, however, including:

• Eight strangers move into the house instead of the usual seven.
• Rather than trying to find a job together, the cast members explore New York, learn about various cultures, and spend time volunteering.
• The show is broadcast in HD for the first time.
• Fans can visit Real World Dailies to watch uncensored and unedited clips from the show, as well as interviews with the cast.
• The first transgendered house mate, Katelynn Cusanelli, is part of this cast.

Here is a brief bio of each of the eight Brooklyn cast members:

• 21 years old
• From Salt Lake City, Utah
• DJ who aspires to be a hip hop dancer
• Suffers from severe panic attacks

Baya was raised by her hippie grandparents as a non-Mormon, which created some friction with her peers in a predominantly Mormon city. She enjoys volunteering her time with social and environmental charity groups.

• 23 years old
• From Salt Lake City, Utah
• University of Utah student
• Strict Mormon
• Aspiring TV host

Chet is one of ten children from a strict Mormon household. He is a conservative Republican who is strongly opposed to alcohol and premarital sex, but dresses like your typical punk rock frat boy.

• 20 years old
• From Kansas City, Missouri
• Former Miss Missouri Teen and Miss America Teen
• Studies theatre and music at the University of South Florida

Devyn is known as a tease, using her good looks to get what she wants from men. She's a former beauty queen who aspires to be involved in the entertainment industry when she graduates from college.

• 22 years old
• From Miami Beach, Florida
• Dolphin trainer at Miami Seaquarium
• Grew up in an abusive home

J.D. became the youngest dolphin trainer at the Miami Seaquarium when he was 19 years old. He was involved in competitive swimming in high school, and attended the University of Miami. He is driven to work hard to achieve his dreams.

• 24 years old
• From West Palm Beach, Florida
• First Real World transgendered house mate
• Began living as a woman at age 17

Katelynn was born male, and raised in a religious Italian household. In high school, she began dressing as a woman, and traveled to Thailand in 2008 for gender reassignment surgery. She holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and describes herself as a computer geek.

• 23 years old
• From Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
• Joined the Army at age 17, and served for three and a half years
• Guarded Saddam Hussein during his trial in Iraq
• Plays guitar, writes, and is an amateur filmmaker

Ryan has seen a lot of strife at his young age, having served in Iraq and been through several near-death experiences. He is creative and enjoys writing music and prose as well as creating films.

• 22 years old
• From San Francisco, California
• Sexually abused as a child, now acts as an advocate for victims
• Bi-sexual
• Artist who aspires to have her work shown in a gallery

Sarah is heavily tattooed and deeply artistic. She spends her time creating her art as well as advocating for both male and female victims of sexual abuse through art and creative therapy. She is currently in a relationship with a man despite most of her previous relationships with women.

• 23 years old
• From Salem, New Hampshire
• Personal trainer, model, and actor
• Featured in Men's Health magazine

Scott is the first in his family to graduate from college. He combines his education with his physical strength to educate people on fitness and training through his website.
