Mythbusters Cast

The Mythbusters cast is a mix of highly talented and experienced special effects experts led by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. Mythbusters is a reality TV show that airs on the Discovery Channel and strives to prove or disprove myths, folklore, urban legends, viral videos and other puzzles of science and technology.

Explosives are a favorite item of the Mythbusters cast.

Adam and Jamie

Adam and Jamie are the original members of the Mythbusters cast, and they remain the focus of the show. In the show's intro they are billed as having 35 years of special effects experience between them. Indeed, both men are very talented and quick-witted, which makes the reality show not only informative, but highly entertaining.

Adam Savage

Adam Whitney Savage was born on July 15, 1967, in New York City, New York. He is trained and experienced in a number of different areas including:

Television hosting

Savage's father, Lee, was well known for his work on Sesame Street as a muppeteer. One of Adam's first jobs in the entertainment business was doing voiceover work for that show.

Jamie Hyneman

James Earl Hyneman was born on September 25, 1956 in Marshall, Michigan. He was raised in Columbus, Indiana. Jamie also has a wide and varied list of occupations in his resume, including:

Scuba diver
Boat captain
Pet store owner
Concrete inspector
Chef
Wilderness survival
Linguist

Hyneman owns M5 Industries, which was once a special effects business but now serves as the backdrop and workshop for Mythbusters. He has worked on hundreds of movies and commercials providing effects and gadgets. Movies he's been involved with include James and the Giant Peach and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He has also been very active in the BattleBots competitions, designing and creating the legendary Blendo robot.

The Rest of the Mythbusters Cast

There are three other members of the Mythbusters cast who have been introduced gradually and became regulars on the show. These three, called the Build Team, all work together on smaller projects, while Adam and Jamie tackle the larger ones.

Kari Byron

Kari Byron was born on December 18, 1974 in California. She attended San Francisco State University, where she studied film and sculpture. Kari is an artist and has had her work shown in galleries in the San Francisco area.

She joined the Mythbusters cast after several attempts at getting a job with M5 Industries and finally being asked to help out with one of the experiments on the show. Kari is married to Paul Urich, and in February 2009 it was announced on the show that she is pregnant. She has a huge fan following which is mostly male.

Grant Imahara

Grant Imahara was born on October 23, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the University of Southern California where he studied electrical engineering. His specialty is electronics and radio control. He can often be seen on Mythbusters building elaborate gadgets and robots.

Grant has worked behind the scenes on many of the same movies and specials as Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, and these relationships led to his spot on the Mythbusters cast. He has the unique distinction of being one of only three people who have operated R2D2 in the Star Wars films.

Tori Belleci

Tori Belleci was born on October 30, 1970 in Monterey, California. He graduated from San Francisco State University and became an employee of Jamie Hyneman soon after graduation. His specialty is building models and sculptures. He has worked on the Star Wars films creating the Federation battleships among other things, and has written and directed his own movies.

Tori worked in production on Mythbusters before being asked to work in front of the camera as part of the Build Team. He is known as the risk-taker of the group, and is often called upon to perform stunts and experiments that are more dangerous than others.
