Million Dollar Listing

From LoveToKnow Reality-TV

Million Dollar Listing follows the business and private lives of a group of high end real estate agents in the pricey Los Angeles housing market. In addition to showing off some of the most magnificent houses in California, viewers are treated to a front row seat for watching the ego clashes and high drama interactions of the often eccentric agents. Million Dollar Listing airs on the Bravo network.

Million Dollar Listing – Season One

The first season of Million Dollar Listing premiered in 2006. This season focused on ten different real estate agents, all operating in the Los Angeles/Hollywood/Malibu/Beverly Hills area. Although the paths of the agents on the show crossed sometimes in the course of various deals, most of the time on the show was spent focusing on the agents individually.

The clients played an important role in season one. Viewers got a great deal of insight into their individual circumstances, from a recently divorced woman trying to make a quick sale on her house to a woman who was trying to face up to selling her deceased parents’ home so she could start a new life. Viewers also got a window into what happens behind the scenes during a home sale and how agents view different circumstances of their clients.

The real estate agents featured in season one were:

  • Chris Cortazzo
  • Michael Wegmann
  • Shannon McLeod
  • Scotty Brown
  • Carol Byrd
  • Lydia Simon
  • Madison Hildebrand
  • Ray and Dia Schuldenfrei (husband and wife team)
  • Chase Campen

There were six episodes during the first season.

Million Dollar Listing – Season Two

The second season of the program took a completely different track than the first. This time, rather than focusing on so many different real estate agents, the series dealt with the lives of three young agents who had climbed to the top of the LA housing market very early in their career. Madison Hildebrand is the only agent from season one who is a regular on this season, although some of the other agents make brief appearances for home showings and deals. He is joined on the show by Josh Flagg and Chad Rogers.

The homes and clients are still a central part of the show, but much more time is dedicated in this season to the personal lives of the agents themselves. There is a great deal of competing and ego clashing between the three up and comers, particularly between Josh and Chad.

Viewers also get a glimpse into the private lives of each agent. Baby faced Chad – known as much for his mop top hair cut as he is for real estate listings – is in a relationship with a younger girl that he seems to be ready to move forward faster than she is. Chad also has issues with his father that play out on screen. Madison struggles with his sexuality all season, trying to figure out if he is attracted to men, women or both. The biggest story for Josh was his ego and his concern that maybe real estate is not really the career field he wants to be a part of.

The Chad and Josh Conflict

An ongoing theme in the second season was the clash between Chad and Josh. The root of the conflict was with a client, Ronald Richard. Richard owned two high profile properties in LA and he hired Chad to represent him in selling the units. Richard specifically directed Chad to not allow Josh inside his properties and to not deal with any of Josh’s clients. It turned out that the two had had business dealings in the past.

Josh requested a viewing of one of the properties, and Chad informed him that he was not allowed to show it to him. Josh claimed to not know Richard and accused Chad of making the story up. The whole situation came to a head during an interview with all three agents when Chad aired the story. He presented Josh a copy of an email Josh had sent Richard to dispute his claims that he doesn’t even know him. Josh then professed he had forgotten all about his past interaction with Richard.

Madison remained a neutral party in the conflict.
