From LoveToKnow Reality-TV

If you're a huge Mike Rowe fan you may already know that not only does he star in the Emmy nominated show Dirty Jobs, but he is also the creator and executive producer.

Mike Rowe Bio

Mike Rowe was born in Baltimore, Maryland, where his parents were teachers in the Baltimore County schools. During his high school career Rowe spent a lot of time on stage, singing and acting. After high school he went out into the world with hopes of becoming a professional musician, which he did. Mike Rowe landed a job with the Baltimore Opera as a baritone. When asked about his opera days, Rowe said one of the main reasons for wanting to join the opera was to get his Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card. Opera didn't suit him for long though and he decided to move on.

Where did he go after the Baltimore opera? Rowe decided to check out QVC to see if home shopping was going to be his thing. He auditioned for a spot selling man-made diamonds and won the spot. During his tenure, Mike Rowe sold over $100 million in fake diamonds. After three years, the shine of selling diamonds had worn off and Mike wanted to do something different, so he flitted around the country a bit. He took jobs writing, narrating and hosting a variety of shows for different networks until he ended up in San Francisco as a host for the CBS show Evening Magazine. Rowe still calls San Francisco home, though he is rarely ever there.

Beginning Dirty Jobs

Mike Rowe didn't approach the Discovery Channel; they approached him to host a show about mummies in Egypt. After he and the network developed a working relationship, Rowe decided to pitch his idea for Dirty Jobs to network execs as a one time, three hour special. Mike's intention was to be their "go-to" guy to send to far off and exotic locales around the world and still have six months off during the year. That particular plan didn't work out for the self-deprecating host because it actually turned out better than he and the networks had anticipated. The first airing of Dirty Jobs was met with a huge audience base, which surprise both Rowe and Discovery Channel executives.

Dirty Jobs is still running strong and hugely popular ever since it's 2003 debut. The show was nominated for two Emmy awards. It's so easy to find information on Mike Rowe's professional life, but with his rugged good looks and great sense of humor, many wonder about his personal life.

Who is Mike Rowe Dating?

Mike Rowe has never been married, but in a question and answer session for Discovery he was asked who he was dating. He replied that he is continuing to "…pursue a life of serial monogamy with a very understanding woman in San Francisco." That's all he's willing to divulge.
