Little Miss Perfect
From LoveToKnow Reality-TV
Little Miss Perfect is a reality TV show on the WE network that combines aspects of reality television with documentaries. It takes a look at the world of children's beauty pageants. All of the families featured in the show have experience with these pageants, and it can sometimes be disturbing to see just how much time and energy they spend on preparing for them.
The Show's Format
Each week, two contestants and their families are featured on the show as they try to prepare the kids for the upcoming pageant. At the end of the series, four judges choose the winner, whose title will be Little Miss Perfect.
The title of the show is a takeoff on the movie Little Miss Sunshine, which followed a rather ordinary looking girl as she competed in a pageant. The families involved with the show vary a great deal, from those who see the pageant and preparation in a realistic way to those who seem to invest everything they have - both emotionally and financially - in the competitions.
The format is different from many other similar shows in that there is no narration at all and no apparent commentary on the subject matter. It's a real look at the families and children involved and covers topics from getting portraits done to practicing talent presentations.
Little Miss Perfect Host
The host of Little Miss Perfect is Michael Galanes. Galanes is also the organizer and director of the pageant. He has plenty of experience in this field. He is a model himself; he started out his career working with Disney, playing the role of Prince Charming. He quickly moved into pageant direction, and has worked on many events including:
- Miss Vermont USA
- Little Miss
- Little Mister
- Miss Citrus
- America's Perfect Junior Teen
He has also appeared in the MTV reality show Making the Band, featuring Danity Kane.
The Judges
There are four judges who oversee the pageant and decide on the winners. They are:
David Gilbert
David Gilbert is a member of the Miss Florida pageant board of directors. He has participated in over 350 pageants in various roles, including producer and judge. Gilbert also acts as a modeling and pageant coach and has worked with two Miss Americas as well as many other pageant hopefuls.
Janet McCulloh
Janet McCulloh is a former pageant winner, having earned the titles of Mrs. Florida United States 2007, and Mrs. Florida International 1990. She was also third runner up in two pageants: Mrs. United States 2007, and Mrs. International 1990. She has served as a pageant judge for over 18 years.
Deedy Melanson
Deedy Melanson is a former teen pageant queen with two young daughters who have followed in her footsteps. She is not only a pageant mom, but also very involved with the backstage production of several competitions. She has worked as a coach, judge, director, and mentor.
Nyasha Zimucha
Nyasha Zimucha wears the title of Miss Africa USA. Hailing from South Africa, she is well-educated and speaks five languages. She is a swimwear model, spokesmodel for several companies, and a former NFL cheerleader. Nyasha has studied ballet, singing, acting and is currently pursuing an entertainment career.
