Dancing with the Stars Season 7
From LoveToKnow Reality-TV
Dancing with the Stars season 7 is sure to bring plenty of thrills and surprise victories, just as it has in previous years. This show is full of rhythm and excitement that audiences continue to enjoy even more than in seasons past. If you’ve never seen the show before, read on for some basic information on how it all works, as well as for some specs on the current cast.
How It All Happens
The premise of Dancing with the Stars is a simple one, unless you are one of the celebrity contestants, in which case you’re in for plenty of hard work and uncertain rewards.
Dancing with the Stars' pairs professional ballroom dancers with B list celebrities, giving them the opportunity to compete together in a wide variety of social dance forms. From the mambo to the salsa, these household names (some with no dance experience) are whipped into shape by the pastime’s elite, and given the chance to show their stuff on national TV.
Much like other competitive reality talent shows such as American Idol, Dancing with the Stars season 7 viewers are able to call in or text message their vote for which couple should stay. Each week, one pair is eliminated, until the final remaining duo becomes the winner.
The Cast of Dancing with the Stars Season 7
As with previous seasons, the Dancing with the Stars season 7 cast is a conglomeration of actors, singers and athletes, as well as other celebrities from various genres. A few have dance training thanks to their career background (such as boy band singer Lance Bass), but most have never set foot on a dance floor, making for some great outtakes and behind the scenes footage on each episode.
The season 7 cast is as follows:
- Comedian Jeffrey Ross
- TV star Ted McGinley
- ’N Sync singer Lance Bass
- Singer Toni Braxton
- Model Brooke Burke
- Chef Rocco DiSpirito
- Gold medal sprinter Maurice Greene
- Reality TV star Kim Kardashian
- Actress Cloris Leachman
- Actor Cody Linley
- Actress Susan Lucci
- Volleyball gold medalist Misty May-Treanor
- NFL Player Warren Sapp
Some of the professional dancers the stars are paired with are return guests on the show, while others are fresh from their other dancing commitments, and new to the national television stage.
As in previous years, the Dancing with the Stars season 7 cast was announced on Good Morning America, which further amplified the viewer hype behind the show. The series has become as popular as other competitive reality TV shows such as America’s Got Talent, and ABC has given it a prominent position in its Monday night lineup.
The celebrities chosen for the show join for a variety of reasons, some to regain some time in the spotlight that has faded away, and others just to get in shape. This is the case with Kim Kardashian, who recently spoke to a national magazine about her desire to get her body toned and in perfect shape. She also hopes to conquer her fear of dancing in public.
Whatever their reason, each celebrity experiences a unique journey, struggling with dance steps and pushing their bodies to the limit. They also take a toll emotionally, allowing themselves to be vulnerable on a national stage while America criticizes their performances through a simple voting system. It’s a challenge for sure, but most of the celebrities on the show seem to enjoy more benefits than sacrifices.
Dancing with the Stars is currently on ABC Monday evenings at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. central), with the elimination round broadcast on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. central). Visit the show’s official website for all of the latest season 7 information.
