Bad girls be gone; Charm School 3 with Ricki Lake is prepping to reform the world.
Charm School 3 with Ricki Lake
VH-1's hit reality TV series Charm School is back with a vengeance, and a new headmistress. Actress turned talk show host Ricki Lake will oversee an eclectic group of semi-civilized females in front of a national TV audience, and the results may shock you.
The new installment of Charm School premieres in summer of 2009 and is reportedly loaded with hard-core drama. Season three's official title is Charm School Gives Back and will feature the girls from two other VH-1 reality shows: Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels and Real Chance of Love.
According to Charm School producers, this season's show will focus on self-development through random acts of kindness and charity work. Producers add that unlike season two, Charm School 3's contestants will not only be learning the basics of proper etiquette, they will also be taught the importance of "using themselves for good." While the network has not revealed the show's cast members, fans of Rock of Love Bus can probably guess which cast-offs could benefit from Charm School 3's self-improvement lessons.
Who is Ricki Lake?
Another change to Charm School is the introduction of Ricki Lake as host. Season two headmistress Sharon Osbourne parted ways with the series leaving an opening, which Lake was only too happy to fill. The 40-year-old former "Hairspray" star has more than a decade of experience as a talk show host. Her run as hostess of The Ricki Lake Show provided her with ample exposure to rowdy individuals who could have benefited from some fine-tuning. Lake says she will now channel that experience to help reform the girls on Charm School 3. Lending Lake a hand this season will be TV personality Alani “La La” Vazquez and radio host Stryker who were both recruited to be the show’s new school deans.
Where It All Started
Charm School 3 with Ricki Lake will feature the ladies who failed to win Bret Michaels’ heart in his third go-round looking for love as well as the girls who got dumped by brothers Ahmad Givens and Kamal Givens on Real Chance of Love. However, Charm School 3 is a product of more than just the two aforementioned VH-1 reality shows.
Charm School Season One
Season one of Charm School was titled Flavor of Love: Charm School. It was hosted by comedian Mo'Nique and featured 13 female cast-offs from the first two seasons of Flavor of Love, another VH-1 reality series starring rap sensation Flavor Flav. Season one's premise was simple; the contestant who showed the most improvement in developing proper etiquette was crowned “Charm School Queen” and awarded $50,000.
Charm School Season Two
Flavor of Love: Charm School begot Rock of Love: Charm School. Ozzy Osbourne’s wife, Sharon, hosted the series’ second season, which featured 14 female rejects from the first two seasons of Rock of Love. The ladies were taught proper etiquette and assigned tasks to demonstrate what they had learned. The winner walked away with $100,000 and the title of "Charm School Queen."
