The public adores a good love story, and there is something even more intriguing about love stories that TV viewers can watch blossom from the very beginning. Add some elements of competition to the mix and you have yourself a bona fide relationship/dating reality show.

Real Love versus Camera Love

One of the most interesting elements of relationship and dating reality shows is the camera factor. Are the contestants actually falling in love, or are they influenced by the desire to get as much camera time as possible? Although most participants on these shows make the claim that they get involved with the show in a true attempt to find love, as the cameras roll it becomes blatantly obvious that some of the people are there to serve their own purpose. It isn't uncommon to stumble across contestants who simply want exposure for one reason or another, whether it's because they are aspiring entertainers or they simply have a thirst for public life.

Lasting Relationships

Is it possible to find real love on a reality show? Some couples get engaged on reality shows only to have the engagement be a short-lived bliss that eventually evolves into the couple realizing that once the cameras stop rolling the passion fades. While some couples are still together long after the show wraps, the vast majority of relationships formed on dating reality shows fade relatively quickly. Luckily for these participants, however, there is no shortage of additional shows they can participate in to try again.
