Celebrity Reality Shows
From LoveToKnow Reality-TV
There is just something fun about watching celebrities out of their usual element. Whether it's watching a famous celebrity eating something disgusting on an episode of Fear Factor or following the daily activities of a celebrity as they balance both exciting and mundane tasks, viewers enjoy getting to see their favorite celebrities beyond the confines of the red carpet.
Why are celebrity reality shows so appealing? Some viewers like to watch the glamorous lives of celebrities while other viewers get a kick out of watching celebrities do the same things the viewers do on a daily basis. Watching celebrities discipline their children or clean up after their dogs make them seem just a little more accessible and perhaps a little more appealing.
Celebrity Reality Show Formats
Although celebrities sometimes make cameos on existing reality shows, there are other reality shows that feature celebrities exclusively:
- Celebrities Living Together: Shows like The Surreal Life allow celebrities to live with each other for a certain period of time while the cameras roll. It's interesting to watch the various egos of the celebrities clash.
- Focus on One Celebrity: Celebrities sometimes get their own shows that allow viewers to watch the celebrity go through his or her day. It can be quite intriguing to witness an otherwise glamorous celebrity deal with the daily grind.
- Celebrity Game Shows: Some game shows feature celebrities as the contestants and may even show celebrities doing things that are degrading or silly.
Celebrities often do cameos on other reality shows in an attempt to promote their latest projects.
Reality Stars as Celebrities
Contestants on reality shows sometimes evolve into bona fide celebrities themselves. Examples include Omarosa originally from The Apprentice and New York originally from Flavor of Love. It is not uncommon for these reality show stars to appear on other reality shows because of their popularity.
