Cake Boss

Cake Boss is a reality TV show that airs on TLC. The show follows baker Buddy Valastro, his employees, and his family as they work hard to meet deadlines, create unique cakes, and interact with one another.

Buddy Valastro is the owner and master baker at Carlo's Bakery, which is located in Hoboken, New Jersey. The bakery was a lifelong dream of his father's, and Buddy is intent on making it a success. He is a genius with cakes, and the shop receives plenty of business through custom cakes for weddings, anniversaries, photo shoots, and other occasions.

Carlo's is a true family business, as Buddy employs his mother, his wife, four sisters, and three brothers-in-law. As you can imagine, all of this family closeness can result in some tension and arguments.

Cake Boss is a documentary style reality television show that brings viewers right into the action as the staff deals with bridezillas, unusual requests, supply issues, and rush orders.

Most of the family members on Cake Boss have strong personalities, but they also have a strong bond with each other. Here are some of the memorable and often-seen people on the show:

Buddy has been decorating cakes since his teen years. When he was only 17 years old, his father, Buddy Sr., died, leaving Buddy Jr. in charge of the family business. He has grown the store with his talent for making beautiful cakes, as well as his outgoing personality and dedication. He is married to Lisa, and they have three young children together. During his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his family, as well as fishing and bowling.

Mary Valastro bought Carlo's Bakery in 1964, with her husband. After Buddy Sr's passing, she had to decide whether to press on with the family business, or sell it and let her children steer their own ways. Fortunately, all five of her children wanted to stick with the bakery. Currently, Mary manages the finances for the shop. She is generally a happy woman who likes to sing and chat, but she is also quick to point out problems as they arise.

Lisa is Buddy's wife, and she works at the front counter, dealing with walk-in customers and those picking up orders. She is outgoing and friendly, and a great cook.

Buddy has four sisters who all work at the bakery. They are:

• Mary
• Grace
• Lisa
• Maddalena

All four sisters work at the front counter along with Buddy's wife, and Grace also creates the weekly employee schedules.

Buddy also employs three of his sister's husbands. They are:

• Mauro Castano – Married to Maddalena, Mauro is the "right hand man" in the bakery, and an accomplished pastry chef. He is close friends with Buddy, and they drive to work together every day.

• Joe Faugno – Joe is married to Grace, and works in the mixing room as a baker. He has a second career as a firefighter.

• Remy Gonzales – Remy is married to Buddy's sister Lisa, and he is also a talented cake decorator.

In addition to the immediate family, Cake Boss also features the following employees:

• Danny Dragone – Danny worked for Buddy's father before Buddy was born. He is a true jack of all trades, and can do any of the work necessary in the bakery.
• Frankie Amato Jr. – Frankie is a first cousin to Buddy, and the two grew up together in the same neighborhood. He does both decorating and technical computer work.
• Sal Picinich – Sal also worked for Buddy's father, and does most of the cake baking in the store.
• Stephanie Fernandez – Stephanie is a former intern who is now a talented decorator.
