The Biggest Loser: Rules
In season 6 of The Biggest Loser, the rules for the show remain essentially the same as they have been in the past. The major parts of the show include:
- Reward Challenge – The reward challenge is usually a physical one that pits the teams against each other for a prize. The prizes are usually things like exercise equipment or an advantage at the weigh-in event. Early in the series, the prize in the reward challenge is usually immunity.
- Temptation – The temptation part of the show forces the contestants to choose between their weight loss goals and other rewards. In exchange for something they want - such as a phone call home to their family, exercise equipment or a cash prize - the contestants must give up their workouts or agree to eat high calorie food. The contestants must decide which one is more important to them.
- The Weigh-In – The weigh-in portion of the show is when the audience and the teams find out how much weight everyone has lost. The team with the biggest percentage of weight loss wins, and the losing team must vote someone off.
- Voting Room – The losing team goes into the voting room every week to decide which team member to kick off. The people on the team who lost the most weight are not eligible to be voted off by the other team members. Sometimes the vote is a tie, in which case the contestant who lost the least amount of weight is the one who automatically has to leave.
The winning contestant on The Biggest Loser wins $250,000, but the contestants who are kicked off the show early can still compete at home. The person who loses the most weight after they are voted off the show wins a prize of $100,000.
Another important component of the show is the competition between the trainers. The trainer who has been working with the eventual winner of the show wins a cash prize of $100,000.
