Application for The Amazing Race
From LoveToKnow Reality-TV
Interested in filling out an application for The Amazing Race? Besides age and citizenship requirements, potential participants must also be in pre-existing relationships with the individuals with whom they want to compete. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, remember that you may need to spend at least 30 straight days -- 24/7 -- with this person in not only familiar homeland territory, but in possibly some of the most remote countries in the world. Think you can do that? Then read on to find out what else you need to do to get on this award-winning, CBS reality television show.
About The Amazing Race
The Amazing Race is like no other reality show. Pairs or teams of contestants use their survivor and tactic skills to race around the world with the chance of winning $1 million and other various prizes. Along the way, the teams must compete in challenges as a means of not only testing their strengths, but their relationships as well. The show debuted in the United States in 2001 and by mid-2008, had completed 13 seasons. Races consist of traveling throughout several continents and on average about 10 cities, with the starting and ending leg usually being somewhere in North America. Teams who finish each leg last can be eliminated, therefore whittling down the margin of competitors.
The show is hosted by Phil Keoghan and has earned seven Primetime Emmy Awards (as of 2008), including Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. There are currently several international versions of The Amazing Race in progress.

Application Procedure
Those wishing to be considered for spots on the show need to fill out an application and create a three-minute VHS tape explaining why you and your partner should be chosen to participate. While one tape per team is required, remember that each member needs to complete an application. Other information that should be included in your application package include signed waivers, proof of passports and passport-size photos of each applicant separately and a recent picture of the two together. Team members must submit their applications together in one envelope. There is no fee to apply.
