America’s Next Top Model Application
The America's Next Top Model application consists of the standard reality TV show casting application forms in addition to a video tape. You may also attend a casting call in one of the scheduled cities to be considered as a contestant on the show.
Where to Find the America's Next Top Model Application
When the show is looking for new contestants, you'll be able to find the America's Next Top Model application at the official website at CWTV.com. You'll also find all the information you need to fill out the forms, find out if you're eligible for the show, and instructions for making your video.
The first thing you should do before you even print off the application form is to read all the information available on the website. Make sure that you're eligible and fit all of the requirements and ensure that you'll be available for the suggested taping dates.
Casting Calls Versus Application Packages
Like many other reality TV shows, America's Next Top Model holds open casting calls in major cities across the country. You can opt to attend one of these calls and meet the casting staff in person at which time you'll have a chance to fill out all the application forms necessary. If you decide to attend a casting call you won't need to make an application video or mail in the forms. While it's always good to make an impression in person, there is no bias shown toward potential contestants who attend calls over those who mail in application packages.
Keep in mind that you'll be responsible for any travel or lodging costs that you incur if you decide to travel to an open call location. For financial reasons alone, it's often more practical to send in your application and video.
Eligibility Requirements
America's Next Top Model has a few eligibility requirements that are different from most other shows due to the nature of the competition. Although always subject to change, the main requirements dictate that you must be:
- Female
- Between 18 and 27 years old
- At least 5 feet 7 inches in height
- A citizen of the United States currently residing in the United States
Other eligibility requirements include:
- You must have a current passport, as the show requires international travel
- You must not have experience as a model in a national campaign in the past five years
- If you have an agent, you must be willing to terminate this relationship prior to being on the show
- You must be willing to be photographed and videotaped while clothed, partially clothed, and nude
This is just a sampling of some of the major points on the eligibility form. Please read the entire document carefully to ensure you can meet all of the requirements.
The Application Video
Along with the application form, you must complete a video of yourself to apply to be on America's Next Top Model. All of the instructions you'll need can be found in the eligibility document, which includes:
The video must be in VHS format. If you don't have a VHS recorder, you'll have to get your video transferred to the proper medium before sending it in. Videos should be no longer than three minutes in length. Pay close attention to this, because if your video is longer than three minutes it will not even be considered. You may not include music in your video for copyright reasons. Likewise, you should refrain from featuring any logos or other corporate images.
In your video, tell the casting folks why you want to be on the show. You should include your runway walk, and inject as much of your true personality as you can. If you're just sitting on the couch and telling the casting staff why you love the show, your chances of getting picked may be very slim.
Have Patience
Once you've sent off your application forms and video, all you can do is wait to hear if you've made the cut. Producers and casting staff will get in touch with you if they want to meet you and put you through into the semi-finals. If you don't hear from anyone, then you can try again for the next cycle of the show. Good luck!
