At the end of each season, CBS announces a new Amazing Race casting call to find new contestants for the next installment of the show. Contestants can apply online or at open casting calls that are set up around the country.

About The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is a competition style reality television show that is played in pairs. Teams of two are pitted against one another in a race around the world, complete with challenges for one or both people to participate in. At the end of each leg of the race, teams finish at the pit stop for that location. The last team to check in is eliminated.

When three teams are left in the race, the itinerary brings them back to the United States for the finale. The first team to reach the finish line at the end wins the race, and the top prize of one million dollars.

The Amazing Race Application Form

Once you've located the Amazing Race casting call, you should see a link to download the application form. This form is in .pdf format, so you'll need to have Adobe Reader, which is a free program, installed to open it.

Read the entire form carefully before filling it out, and note that each member of your team has to fill out a separate form. The form itself is rather lengthy, but take your time with it and give thoughtful responses. You want to highlight the best qualities about yourself, and sound like a fun and interesting person.

Along with the application form is a Release and Waiver document that you should read carefully before signing. This form must accompany your application.

Eligibility Requirements for The Amazing Race

Before you put hours into putting together your application, read the eligibility requirements that are available on the casting page. They cover all of the requirements for potential contestants, as well as instructions for your application package.

It's worth noting that, if you have previously applied to be on the show, you don't need to apply again.

The basic requirements to be considered for the show, for both team members, are:

You must be 21 years of age or older
You must be a legal resident of the United States
You must possess a current driver's license
You must be in good physical and mental health
You must have a valid passport
You must be willing to complete any immunizations necessary for travel

The Application Video

One of the most important parts of the application package is the video. As per the terms in the eligibility requirements, the video must:

Be no more than three minutes in length
Include both team members
Be in VHS or DVD format
Convey why you and your partner want to be on The Amazing Race
Show off your personalities

What You Need to Include with Your Application

Here is a handy checklist to make sure that your Amazing Race application is complete. Incomplete packages will be discarded, so you really want to get this right!

Application forms, one for each team member
Release and Waiver forms, one for each team member
Proof of a valid US passport (photocopies are fine), one for each team member
A passport-sized photo, one for each team member, and one recent photo (any size) of both team members together
A three-minute video
