A Shot at Love

A Shot at Love is a relationship and dating reality show starring Tila Tequila, a pop singer who has garnered fame with fans on MySpace and other social websites. Her songs are raunchy, but very popular with the tween and young adult crowd.
Show Format
The show is a competition between 16 females and 16 males to see who can win over Tila's love, much like The Bachelor or The Bacherlorette. The females are all lesbians, but the men are straight. Tila is bisexual, which was revealed at the end of episode one. The contestants go through various challenges — at first within groups, then later on in the series as individuals — to see who gets eliminated. After the first episode 10 of the participants are eliminated, then one from each gender is eliminated until two are left. The final episode has Tila picking the winner.
A Shot at Love Reasons for Elimination
Tila's big process in A Shot at Love was to find a great connection with someone. Many of the reasons that a contestant was eliminated was Tila just did not feel an emotional connection. Some of the other reasons that were given were:
- The guy or gal wasn't her type.
- Tila felt that a couple of the guys from season one connected with more people from the house than her.
- Some of the early eliminations were not necessarily the fault of the contestants; they weren't there long enough to get to know Tila.
- One girl was eliminated because she had a problem with monogamy.
Spin-offs and other Seasons
A Shot at Love: The Hangover was a recap show for season one. Clips and interviews of each of the contestants got equal ratings to the actual show. Some behind-the-scenes footage showed some of the girls in a better light than before, but some of the other girls in a worse light. Vanessa's attack on Brandi was much talked about.
That's Amore is a competitive dating show with former contestant Domenico, who was eliminated in Episode 4 of season one.
A Shot at Love 2 also starred Tila Tequila. The format was the same as season one. At the end of the season Tila was dumped by her pick, Kristi, on national TV.
A Double Shot at Love with the Ikki Twins. Season 3 started on December 9, 2008. The Ikki twins are bisexual identical twin models that have appeared on various car magazines and numerous car calendars. They are called the Ikki Twins because when they worked at Hooters they were hard to tell apart and so since their names were Rikki and Vikki and no one wanted to get their names wrong, they were since called the Ikki twins.
Season One DVD
The first season of A Shot at Love was released on DVD in April 2008. All 10 episodes are included as well as the reunion show. There are extended scenes of some of the more popular episodes as well as deleted scenes, especially of the infamous Vanessa and Brandi shower scene.
